I was meant to be where the coldest it ever gets is 70 degrees

where there's no winter, autumn or fall

where you can walk the streets any time any day

and the sunset never ceases to take your breath away.

I was meant to be near the sea and feel the sand between my feet.

explore the forests deep

soak in the sulfur springs and catch crayfish

I was meant to be where childhood entailed climbing trees, stoning plum and running bare foot.

where games such as hop scotch, moral, and hand games were when girls united

and marbles got the boys competitive.

where the sound of kites are heard all through the night.

I'm meant to be where mangoes and cashews are a big part of our diet

eat bread n butter, crix n cheese and you call that George

where drinking coconut water on a hot day is the best feeling ever

and oil down is the main delicacy.

I'm meant to be where cocks crow daily and stray animals roam the streets.

where current goes at least once a month and the generators and candles come out.

where there's a strong presence of Caribbean Folklore

and our elders speak vehemently about la diablesse and ligahoo.

I'm meant to be where it's a norm to go out and have no idea how you're getting home,

nevertheless it's the least of your concern.

 I come from a land where when carnival comes nothing can stop the mas,

all you need to have a good time is crazy friends,good music and a bottle ah rum.

I'm from a picturesque island in the sun,

where the people are so patriotic and the love is so strong.

Nature: The Ultimate Masterpiece

I believe in a supreme being but not because any ancient scripture said so.

For one reason only, nature and everything in it, most significantly the human body.

Look outside at the trees, the birds and sky.

We live in a world where there’s beauty all around us.
The sun as it fades away on the horizon
the lustrous stars that brings light to darkness,
the glistening of the oceans crystal clear waters.

Nature is like earths poetry; she speaks to us.
When something dies, new life is formed.
One must simply adapt to any given environment.
Change is possible, but gradual.
Processes are continually occurring.

What would the world be like without us or us without it?
One with no substance; emptiness.

Nature sustains us.

She’s authentic and pure.

She can be sweet and endearing but when provoked can wreak havoc.

Nature is the ultimate masterpiece.
Like our bodies, so similar yet very unique.
The way each part of us serves a purpose and works as a unit;
an immune system that fights off diseases,
a brain that processes every thought and action,
a heart that pumps blood constantly
and life that begins with a tiny egg.
How amazing is the human anatomy.

Gives us beauty, balance and sufficiency,
why do we have two legs and not three?

Everytime we meet is like the first time
I lose all sense of rationale when I'm around you

Though the origin is not clear
Many have theorized about how Earth was made.
But through the billions of years

Many things have changed
Evolution clearly evident.

As time went by we became more technologically advanced

Scientific discoveries; made us oblivious to the problems we now face.
We went from manual labor to things being mass produced;
factories discharging toxic gases in the same air that we breathe.

With greenhouse gases rapidly polluting the atmosphere
the temperature of the earth increases everyday.
Causing our protective blanket to be slowly obliterated.

Let's reduce the levels of fossil fuel burning and invest in renewable energy sources.
The presence of naturally occurring elements is one thing;
But when we produce CFCs, HFCs, PFCs; it becomes catastrophic.

Let's stop the talking, procrastinating and get active.

Thinking someone else is going to do it

Would lead to a world full of educated fools.

Let's take care of our planet so that many after us can see;
global warming is very real.
There's so many little things we can do
But living in a capitalist society makes it anything but easy.

Count Your Blesssings

You got good health, strength and endurance. So count your blessings.

You live to see a new sun rising. Count your blessings.

You got family & friends who love you; a support system behind you.

You got food on the table, a place to rest so be grateful. Better count your blessings.

Give thanks to the almighty that even through all the tragedy, there is still some positivity.
