Happiness V Contentment
Happiness is something we spend our entire lives trying to find. However, when we think we have found it we're mistaken. It can easily be mistaken for pleasure.
True happiness is associated with the good Life. It's about seeking knowledge and nobility (virtue).
The main difference between the two is that happiness is permanent or life long whereas contentment is temporary or short lived pleasure. According to John Mill's Utilitarianism theory, humans experience two types of pleasure: lower pleasures and higher pleasures. The lower pleasure, however, are the ones associated with contentment. They are based on the body and are the ones we're born with; not acquired. The higher pleasures are those of intellect and must be cultivated.
In attaining the higher pleasures, they may be challenges encountered. However it is still desirable because even if you fail to achieve the higher pleasure you build a tolerance to pain and have put so much work in that you are not so disappointed.

The Other King James
(A very long overdue post)
A Big and Spicy congratulations goes out Kirani James on his amazing performance in the London 2012 Olympic games. He gave Grenada our first medal which was GOLD in the 400m race. He not only became an Olympic gold medalist but in the process displayed good sportmanship by asking South African Oscar Pistorius for his name tag honoring the first double leg amputee to participate in the Olympics.
A year later we still salute you!

Poli-tricks: Core of Corruption
The biggest contribution to our corrupt world is directed to politics.
I'm not just referring to the politics committed towards power and leadership but those also within smaller groups and work places.
Though we may not be aware of it, whenever we seek to get ahead, we're playing politics. Our natural instinct to be successful kicks in and so we manipulate, scheme and lie.
The people who are equipped to run a country, in that they are devoted to the needs of the people, will not make it in politics because of their good-heartedness. They don't do it simply out of their moral obligation.
Polititians are too caught up in taking jabs at other polititians and making them selves rich at the countrys expense. It's absolutely disgusting! The people who are suppose to lead a nation are some of the most idiotic, unethical people with degrees you would find.
It seems almost pointless in voting because neither parties act like they're worthy to be placed on such high a pedestal (So much for civil rights).

Favorite Baby-Names
For some strange reason I've always loved looking at names and their meanings, not that I'm anticipating having any babies! Welcoming a newborn into the world is just so pure and hopeful, that they should be given names to live up to!

Hiking in the Isle Of Spice
Mt. Qua Qua rises to a height of over 2,370 ft (720 m). The trail is approximately one hour and a half (one way). This hike was truly an adventure. It was like a bush session with alcohol and some ganja. Can't go that high without getting "high". And how can I forget a certain person getting naked. #Epicness. There's truly never a dull moment! Overall it was a great experience despite getting cut by razor grass!

Are You the Marrying Kind?
Marriage is a legal union between two persons. Though it has been around for centuries, the dynamics has changed. It no longer signify a union between heterosexuals but also homosexuals.
Many have disregarded the meaning of this sacrament and have used it to fulfill their own agenda.
Don't get me wrong, though I am not the marrying kind I still believe respect should be shown for marriage and not be made a mockery of, especially if the parties involved claim to be religious.
If not, for others marriage is simply a legal contract that benefits the two persons involved.
In traditional, man and woman marriages, so much effort is placed into planning a glamorous wedding and not into maintaining the relationship. Whats the point??
If indeed I was the marrying kind I would opt for the simplest and least expensive way; in a judge's chamber.
Having an extravagant wedding is pointless and goes against what the union should symbolize. It just shows that the two parties involved are more concerned with appeasing to the many that are insignificant than the few who are relevant.
To me marriage is just another social construction that has been made into something that is mandatory by society. Being a non-conformist, I don't believe I should do something just because it's traditional and satisfy some stereotype of society.
To me marriage should not be just about "Love" (whatever that means) because it would not last. The two parties should be friends first! Marriage like any relationship, be it intimate or business, requires mutual respect, compromise, sacrifice and most significantly WORK.

Highlights: Euro 2012
The UEFA European Championship most definitely did not disappoint when it came to the unexpected performances of some teams. The underdogs stepped up their game and did not make it in any way easy for the favorites. Overall the competition never had a dull moment and lived up to it's expected hype. In the ending, Spain was victorious and well deserving! They only conceded one goal throughout the tournament and had 12 goals total in 6 matches.
The most memorable goals of the tournament for me were:
- Zlatan Ibrahimovic goal versus France, which in my opinion was the best of the tournament
- Daniel Welbeck back heel goal against Sweden
- Fernando Torres goal and his assistance in another to seal the win in the final against Italy and finally not forgetting,
- Mario Balotelli semi final showcase scoring the two winning goals.

London 2012
The Olympics is the stage where:
The best in the world compete for supremacy.
Where rivalries are made and renewed.
Expectations are at a peak.
Dreams are made into reality.
Abilities are put to the test.
Tears are shedded.
Favorites disappoint and underdogs shine.
The most popular and respected sports are highlighted.
It is the ultimate showdown of athleticism.
I have always anticipated watching the Olympics games but this year in particular.
The USA and the Jamaicans have dominated the sprint races and this year Grenada has a candidate for the 200m and 400m titles. #KiraniJames #SpiceIsle The track and field competition is always one of the highlights of the Olympics.

Ralph Waldo Emerson
"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment".
The Good Life
In the Apology, Socrates introduces the idea of the good Life, which has three main elements. First, one must never do wrong even when one is wronged. That is one should not repay injustice with injustice, or return a harm for a harm both of which can cause harm to oneself. Second, one must seek wisdom, by valuing the good opinions of the few who are wise and not the worthless ones from the many who are ignorant. Listening to the wrong opinion can bring harm to oneself and corrupt one’s soul making life not worth living. However, life is only worth living if one is just even though the many can put one to death. Third, the good Life leads to happiness.
The only life worth living is the examined one. We act on decisions that bring more despair than happiness but we can learn from them and as a result gain knowledge.
As for contemporary examples, in my opinion humanitarians are the ideal example of someone living the good life. Whether we are wealthy or poor, simply giving and helping those in need because of our moral obligation is exemplary.
We all should do our part in improving society. Those who do so are often judged and accused of having ulterior motives and only thinking of what they can benefit. However, if they truly have knowledge or demonstrate that they are open to gaining knowledge then they would be living the good life, therefore, they wouldn’t be phased by what others think.
At some point in our lives we have done wrong to someone, whether it was intentional or unintentional. We can still live the good life if we realize that we have hurt someone by apologizing genuinely, showing that we have learnt and hence become wiser.
In a given society, rich and average people have the same rights, live by the same laws and gain both good and bad experiences throughout life. Everyone has equal opportunities to do good deeds by fulfilling their moral obligation and learning from their mistakes.
The good Life is essentially one of happiness and being at peace with oneself.

Cancellation of Hit Shows
WHY WHY does ABC/NBC cancel all the great shows??? It's so annoying! Just because they don't get a certain number of viewers doesn't mean you have to ax them. Not everyone can find the time to sit and watch TV at a certain time. People have lives!
Online views should also be counted because it's very convenient and have a lot of views.
Some of my favorite shows were Pam Am, Missing, Charlie's Angels, Brothers & Sisters, The Event,
Just when you get attached to a show, they cancel it and leave u in so much suspense. It drives me crazy!
Thank God they renewed Revenge and Scandal. I'm so looking forward to the drama.

Konshens: Dancehall Sensation
Garfield "Greg" Spence known by his stage name Konshens is a Jamaican dancehall artiste who has gained tremendous success within the last 9 years. His largest fan base is in Japan and most of his fans are female. This is not shocking because on top of his obvious talent he is also very sexy! He sets himself apart from most dancehall artistes in that his music seeks to inspire positivity. He is young, motivated, devoted to improving dancehall and brings a refreshing aspect to the scene that has been plagued with chaos and negative vibes. His new and anticipated album mental maintenance has been an international success. The title reflects his self-confessed mood swings which he in-cooperated by having each song on the record reflecting a different mood and situation.
He has surely gained his respect in the business and have worked non-stop in getting there. He has also ventured into the clothing business by launching a female line entitled Oh-K in honor of his many female supporters.
I wish him many more success and hope he continues to make great music!
Some of his hit songs include:
"Pon Di Corner" (2005) - with Delus
"Rasta Imposter"
"This Means Money"
"Good Girl Gone Bad" (feat. Tarrus Riley)

Summer 2k12: Livin' It Up..
There isn't anything better than enjoying summer in paradise. The paradise I'm referring to is The Isle of Spice (Grenada), my one and only true HOME. Since it's going to be a while before I'm back here again, I'm determined to have a blast!! I need to be tension free before the Fall semester and home is the ideal place. There's so much beauty to see and enjoy. To me having a good time isn't determined on where you go but who you're around, and I have the right company lol. There's never a dull moment.
Activities: hiking, beaching, partying, catamaran, acting the fool, not forgetting the highlight of the summer: Carnival a.k.a Spice Mas 2k12
