Obama's State Of The Union Address

"..bigger than party & bigger than politics.."

I hope everyone tuned in to watch the the State of the Union address tonight. Although I missed the first part, I took it upon myself to read the transcript. I his address President Obama spoke about specific topics such as Green Energy, Sputnik, Tucson, Health Insurance, Economy and Higher Education.

He urged for innovation and cooperation and reaasured Americans that the country remains on the path to do "big things".

Focusing on education, there was one statement in particular that made me feel even more welcomed and equal as any American. I quote:
"Today, there are hundreds of thousands of students excelling in our schools who are not American citizens.....Others come here from abroad to study in our colleges and universities. But as soon as they obtain advanced degrees, we send them back home to compete against us. It makes no sense."
Though we are international students we should be given the same education as American citizens. That's why it truly is a great nation, endless opportunities.
"...we share common hopes and a common creed.."

Patience; A Virtue I haven't Mastered Yet.

God has blessed me with alot of things, but patience is not one of them.
I'm not that type of person who sits and and wait for great things to happen, but I go after what I want. Sacrifices & all.
"God helps those who helps themselves."
They say good things come to those who wait, but that's just not my motto. Though, it may be applicable in certain situations.

Impatient when it comes to tardiness.
Impatient when it comes to being kept in suspence.
Impatient when it comes to explaining. Hence I would not make a very good teacher.

My impatience usually leads to frustration and anger which I really have a hard time trying to control.
I'm very frank and it feels like a burden when i want to speak my mind but can't. One of those
"Silence Is Golden" moments.
I just wish there was someplace to go get some. It'll really make a huge difference in my life.

What Do Dreams Mean?

I decided to do some research about dreams because I wanted to have a better understanding about what they really reflect. Also because most of my dreams are far from realistic and portray things that you would see in movies.
According to Sigmund Freud, known as the father of psychoanalysis, dreams are "spy holes into our unconscious. Fears, desires and emotions that we are usually unaware of make themselves known through dreams. To Freud dreams were fundamentally about wish-fulfillment. Even "negative" dreams (punishment dreams and other anxiety dreams) are a form of wish-fulfilment; the wish being that certain events do not occur. Very often such dreams are interpreted as a warning."
Putting together his theory and my dreams, the pieces do fit and make sense!

My personal experiences with dreams is that for some strange reason I vaguely remember them. So if i do get messages and warnings in my dreams I wouldn't even know ! I absolutely have no control in what takes place, I don't think anyone does. It's like something within takes over. The power of the unconscious. The scary part about dreams is that they feel so real, especially if you're having a nightmare. sometimes I would just jump out of my sleep and be 'out of it' for a while.

As for the wish-fulfillment, I think fantasising is more healthy than harmful. It's a way of experiencing something that you would probably never get to do in real life. For example being married to a certain celebrity, luxuries .etc. I for one to it alot when I've found a new obsession, and as of now that is Andrew Bynum of the LALakers. lol As crazy as it sounds it is what it is. Theres just something calming about it. You have control in fantasising whereas in dreams you don't.

Give me your views on what you think dreams mean !
