"..bigger than party & bigger than politics.."
I hope everyone tuned in to watch the the State of the Union address tonight. Although I missed the first part, I took it upon myself to read the transcript. I his address President Obama spoke about specific topics such as Green Energy, Sputnik, Tucson, Health Insurance, Economy and Higher Education.
He urged for innovation and cooperation and reaasured Americans that the country remains on the path to do "big things".
Focusing on education, there was one statement in particular that made me feel even more welcomed and equal as any American. I quote:
"Today, there are hundreds of thousands of students excelling in our schools who are not American citizens.....Others come here from abroad to study in our colleges and universities. But as soon as they obtain advanced degrees, we send them back home to compete against us. It makes no sense."
Though we are international students we should be given the same education as American citizens. That's why it truly is a great nation, endless opportunities.
